Description
This is an authentic konkani recipe made with Green gram (Moong) and yam. Taste good with rice or chapathi. Moong is rich in protiens and has a cooling effect on your body.
- Moong -1 Cup ,soaked overnight and then pressure cooked(2 whistles)
- Grated coconut- 1/2 Cup
- Yam(Suvarna gadde ) -100 grams cut into square pieces and pressure cooked till soft.
- Rice Flour -1 teaspoon (for thickness)
- Curry leaves 1 strand
- Hing(Asafoetida) a pinch
- Mustard seeds 1 tea spn
- Red chillies 6-7
- Tamarind
- Oil 1 tea spoon
- Salt
Method:
- Grind together coconut, tamarind, red chillies, hing, rice flour.Grind to a fine paste .
- Now in a vessel pour the ground paste, add the boiled Moong and Yam.
- Add salt to taste and give it a boil for 5 to 7 mins, remove from heat.
- Heat oil, add mustard seeds, when they splutter, add cut red chillies and curry leaves. Add the seasoning to the dish.
- Serve hot along with rice or chapathi.
TIP: You can also use sprouted Moong if you like . This will increase the nutrition factor of the dish.
