Avanasa (Pineapple) Sasam

1 cup of pineapple cut into half inch cubes,
1 cup of scraped coconut,
2 Guntur red chillies,
half teaspoon of mustard seeds,
1 teaspoon of jaggery powder,
an inch of tamarind,
1 teaspoon of oil,
a pinch of hing,
Salt to taste
  • Heat a teaspoon of oil in a pan .Add red chillies and fry for a minute .Add hing, coconut,tamarind to this. Close the heat and let it cool.
  • Grind the above mixture along with jaggery powder and salt to taste. Make a fine paste.Add mustard seeds to this now. Run the mixer for another minute.
  • Empty the contents of mixer into a bowl.
  • For seasoning(optional): Heat a oil in a seasoning pan, add mustard seeds ,when they start spluttering add sesame ,curry leaves and red chillies.Close the heat.
  • Just when you are about to serve the dish , add pineapple and seasoning.
  • Mix well and serve.
