This the most favourite among Konkanis.Seved in almost all religious festivities,temples,weddings etc. Very simple to prepare.

1-cup Toordal/Togari bele/Arhar daal.
pinch of turmeric,
pinch of Hing/Asafoedita,
4-slit green chillies,
1-teaspoon Mustard seeds for seasoning,
2- Red Chillies for seasoning,
  • Boil Toordal  until its totally mashed(there should be no daal granules uncooked).
  • Heat a round bottom vessel,  add 2 cups of water, slit green chillies, hing,pinch of turmeric, boiled toor dal,Salt to taste. Bring it to boil.
  • For Seasoning - Take a seasoning pan, add 1 tsp cooking oil, after oil starts heating, add mustard seeds. Once they start crackling add red chillies. Close the heat. Add this over the boiled daal.
Serve Hot with rice and mango/lemon  pickel.
