Chattambado(Fried Chanadal Vada)

This delicacy is loved by most konkanis and its due to its golden crispy outer cover and a soft chana dal core with a bite of onions.Do try this on a Sunday evening to make it special.

2 cups Chanadal soaked for 2 hours
1 cup Urad dal (Black gram) soaked for 2 hours,
3 green chilly paste,
2 inches of  Ginger finely chopped,
3 chopped onions
4-5 curry leaves,
Salt to taste,
Cooking oil for deep frying,
  • Grind together Chanadal,Uraddal to a coarse(not fine !) paste.(Add just half cup of water).
  • Empty the contents of the bowl to a round bottom vessel.
  • Add chopped onions,green chilly paste,chopped ginger,curry leaves  and salt to taste to the ground mixture.
  • Heat cooking oil for deep frying purpose.
  • When the oil starts heating(Check by dropping pinch of this mixture, it should come to the top immediately) ,take small portion of this mixture on your hand, press it and put it into the hot oil(be carefull !!).
  • Remove when its golden brown.
Serve with tomato sauce/Green chutney/pure coconut cutney.
